Shepherd

Of all the callings found throughout Aethera, none embody unconditional love quite like that of the Shepherd. They are the gentle guardians of the realm's beloved companions, devoted to welcoming the souls of conscious animals who forged a bond with humanity during their time on Earth.

Only certain creatures make the journey to Aethera. Dogs, cats, horses, and other cherished companions whose hearts became intertwined with those of their humans are granted a new existence within Aethera. There, they are restored to their happiest and healthiest selves, free from pain, fear, and the burdens of age.

Shepherds dedicate their ethereal lives to caring for these souls. They comfort newly arrived companions, help them understand their new world, and guide them as they await the next chapter of their journey. Patient and compassionate, Shepherds know that the love shared between a person and their pet is one of life's purest connections, one that even death cannot sever.

Perhaps their most sacred duty is reuniting Aetherans with the companions they left behind. Through quiet walks, playful afternoons, and tearful embraces, Shepherds make possible the moments many believed were lost forever. In Aethera, beloved pets may speak telepathically with those they once loved, allowing old friends to share one final conversation and the goodbyes that Earth so often denies.

Yet these reunions are not true endings. When the time comes, the animal's soul begins its own cycle of rebirth, returning once more to Earth to experience life anew.
