Guardian

The life of all Aethera rests upon the shoulders of the Guardians. Once an Aetheran's Lumen Essence has risen enough to grant them the privilege of becoming a Guardian, they are tasked with binding to an appropriate human as quickly as possible.  Once bound, the two are eternally tethered for the duration of the human's life.  The Guardian sees their future and is charged with guiding their human toward prosperity while dodging the countless threats posed by Rogues and fellow humans alike.

With the ability to influence electrical devices and anything utilizing energy on Earth, Guardians constantly intervene when necessary, subtly shifting the path of the one they chose to keep them safe and successful in their endeavors.  Though their humans are never permitted to know they exist, Guardians shadow their ignorant bind with a persistence that rivals none.  Every close call and every remarkable coincidence bears the thumbprint of an ever-watchful Guardian.

When a Guardian has reached the pinnacle of their success and guided their bind to prosperity, the two exchange places at the end of the human's life on Earth: the human is reborn on Aethera as a Nova, and the Aetheran is reborn on Earth as a child.  This eternal cycle of rebirth is the seed from which Aethera itself endures.
